Phnom Penh, on Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2026, H.E. Dr. PHAN Phalla, Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Senior Management of SME Bank held a meeting with Mrs. KIMURA Hidemi, President of the Policy Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance of Japan, and her delegation.
This discussion was convened to review current implementation and to proceed with the signing of the second phase of the Technical Cooperation, which will be effective for two years (from April 2026 to April 2028), with aims to advance SME financing in Cambodia to be more progressive and inclusive. By investing in our human resources and leveraging our strong partnership with Japan, SME Bank is committed to providing financial services to SMEs in Cambodia more swiftly, reliably, and effectively.
Through this Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC), the Japanese side provided 4 sets of training seminars to SME Bank on a range of topics aimed at strengthening the capacity of the bank’s leadership and staff.
On this occasion, H.E. Dr. PHAN Phalla presented a souvenir containing local products crafted by Cambodian artisans to the Japanese delegation.
