SME Bank held a 2027 -2029 Business Strategic Discussion

Phnom Penh: On 14 August 2026, Mr. Chea Sophak, CEO of SME Bank, chaired the Leadership Strategic Meeting for 2027–2029, with the participation of senior management, directors and deputy directors of departments, branch managers, section heads, and relevant staff, totaling approximatPhnom Penh, August 14, 2026 – Mr. CHEA Sophak, CEO of SME Bank, led the 2027–2029 Business Strategic Discussion, joined by senior management, department heads, branch managers, and approximately 50 relevant staff members.

The meeting was organized to gather inputs and perspectives from relevant functions in order to define strategic directions, strengthen operational effectiveness, and enhance targeted and timely financial support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). In addition, the meeting placed strong emphasis on the “Beyond Financing” approach, reflecting SME Bank’s commitment to going beyond providing financing by becoming a trusted business development partner for SMEs through financial solutions, digital services, business knowledge and advisory support, business networking, market opportunities, and other value-added services. These efforts aim to help SMEs strengthen their capabilities, improve productivity, expand their businesses, enhance competitiveness, and achieve sustainable growth.

Through active dialogue and exchange of ideas, the meeting generated valuable insights, comments, and strategic proposals that will serve as a solid foundation for improving work mechanisms, fostering greater integration, and ensuring more effective approaches.

The Cambodia SME Scheme is to assist viable SMEs impacted by the economic challenges during the Covid-19 period. With Cambodia SME Scheme, it is envisaged that SMEs will have accessibility to financing at a reasonable cost.
On May 20,2024, in Tokyo, H.E Dr. PHAN Phalla, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SME Bank of Cambodia presided over and led the delegates that included the Board of Directors, and the senior management of the Bank. The delegation paid a visit to the Policy Research Institute (PRI), the Ministry of Finance, Japan; and the Micro Business and Individual Unit, Japan Finance Corporation (JFC-Micro).
